How to choose the right battery charger

To size the correct charger, start from the total capacity of the battery bank in ampere-hours (Ah). A rule of thumb is that the charger should have a charging current corresponding to 10–20% of the battery bank's Ah. Example: A 200 Ah battery bank requires a 20–40 A charger for optimal charging.
Lithium batteries can often be charged with higher current, while lead-acid batteries benefit from a slightly lower charging current.
