VICTRON ENERGY BMS400100000, is a simple and inexpensive alternative to the VE.Bus BMS. The smallBMS can replace the VE.Bus BMS in several applications. However, it is not suitable with inverters/chargers like the VE.Bus MultiPlus and Quattro because it does not have a VE.Bus interface. The smallBMS is intended for use with Victron Smart LifePo4 batteries with circular M8 connectors.
A simple and inexpensive alternative to the VE.Bus BMS
The smallBMS can replace the VE.Bus BMS in several applications. However, it is not suitable with inverters/chargers like MultiPlus and Quattro because it does not have a VE.Bus interface. The smallBMS is intended for use with Victron Smart LifePo4 batteries with circular M8 connectors. The smallBMS has three outputs, similar to the VE.Bus BMS.
Load disconnect output
The load output is normally high and floats freely in case of cell undervoltage (standard 2.8 V/cell, can be adjusted on the battery between 2.6 V and 2.8 V per cell). Maximum current: 1 A. The load output is not short-circuit protected. The load output can be used to control:
Pre-alarm output
The pre-alarm output usually floats freely and rises in case of impending cell undervoltage (standard 3.1 V/cell, can be adjusted on the battery between 2.85 V and 3.15 V per cell). Maximum current: 1 A (not short-circuit protected). The shortest delay between pre-alarm and load disconnect is 30 seconds.
Charge disconnect output
The charge output is usually high and floats freely if there is an impending risk of cell overvoltage or overtemperature. Maximum current: 10 mA. The charge output is not suitable for powering inductive loads such as a relay coil. The charge output can be used to control:
System on/off input
The system on/off input controls both outputs. When off, both outputs float freely so that loads and chargers are off. The system on/off consists of two terminals: Remote L and Remote H. It is possible to connect an on/off switch or a relay between L and H. Alternatively, terminal H can be switched to the battery's positive terminal, or terminal L can be switched to the battery's negative.
Protects 12V and 48V systems
Operating voltage range 8 to 70V DC.
