VICTRON ENERGY BMS110022000, is a battery management system for Victron's lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) smart batteries. It is specifically designed for 12 V systems with a 12 V alternator. The BMS CL 12-100 monitors and protects each individual battery cell in the battery (or battery bank) and disconnects the alternator, charging source, or DC loads in case of low battery voltage, high battery voltage, or over-temperature.

The alternator input sets a current limit and controls the current in one direction from the alternator into the battery, so that alternators of all sizes (and starter batteries) can be safely connected to the smart lithium batteries or other batteries. The BMS is also equipped with a connector for remote on/off function, to switch off the BMS (and the system) via a remote switch, and a pre-alarm contact, which emits a warning signal before the BMS disconnects the batteries from the system.

Battery Management System
The BMS is connected to Victron LiFePO4 batteries (LFP) at 12.8V. Up to five batteries can be connected in parallel. Can be used as an on/off switch for the system.

Alternator and Battery Protection
The input current is electronically limited to approximately 90% of the fuse capacity. A 100A fuse will therefore limit the input current to approximately 90A. Selection of the correct fuse: Protects the LFP battery against excessive charging current (important if it is a low-capacity LFP battery). Protects the alternator against overload if it is a high-capacity LFP battery bank (most 12V alternators will overheat and stop functioning at max. output power for more than 5 minutes).

Starter Battery Protection
This function is similar to that of a Cyrix battery combiner or Argo FET battery isolator. Current can only flow to the LFP battery if the input voltage (=voltage of the starter battery) exceeds 13V. Current cannot flow back from the LFP battery to the starter battery, which prevents any damage to the LFP battery caused by excessive discharge.

Remote On/Off Input
The remote on/off input controls charging via the alternator. When switched off, charging via the alternator is deactivated and the BMS function continues to be active, allowing all loads and chargers to continue operating independently of the status of the remote input. When the system's on/off switch is activated via VictronConnect, the BMS function will also be inactive. It consists of two terminals: Remote L and Remote H. It is possible to connect a remote on/off switch or a relay between L and H. Alternatively, terminal H can be switched to the battery's positive terminal, or terminal L can be switched to the battery's negative terminal.

Spark-proof
No relays but MOSFET switches, and therefore no sparks
