VICTRON ENERGY BMS110022000, is a battery management system for Victron's lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) smart batteries. It is specially designed for 12 V systems with a 12 V generator. The BMS CL 12-100 monitors and protects each individual battery cell in the battery (or battery bank) and disconnects the generator, charging source or DC loads in case of low battery voltage, high battery voltage or overtemperature.
The generator input sets a current limit and directs current in one direction from the generator into the battery, so generators of all sizes (and starter batteries) can be safely connected to the smart lithium batteries or other batteries. The BMS is also equipped with a remote on/off function connector, to turn off the BMS (and the system) via a remote switch, and a pre-alarm contact, which emits a warning signal before the BMS disconnects the batteries from the system.
Battery Management System
BMS connects to Victron LiFePO4 batteries (LFP) at 12.8V. Up to five batteries can be connected in parallel. Can be used as an on/off switch for the system.
Alternator and battery protection
Input current is electronically limited to approximately 90% of fuse capacity. A fuse of 100A will therefore limit the input current to approx. 90A. Choosing the right fuse: Protects the LFP battery from excessive charging current (important if it is a low capacity LFP battery). Protects the alternator from overload if it is a high capacity LFP battery bank (most 12V alternators will overheat and stop working at max output for more than 5 minutes).
Starter Battery Protection< /strong>
This function is similar to that of a Cyrix battery combiner or Argo FET battery isolator. Current can only flow to the LFP battery if the input voltage (=voltage on the starter battery) exceeds 13V. Current cannot flow back from the LFP battery to the starter battery, preventing possible damage to the LFP battery caused by excessive discharge.
Remote On/Off Input
The the remote on/off input controls charging via the alternator. When turned off, charging via the generator is disabled and the BMS function remains active allowing all loads and chargers to continue to operate regardless of the status of the remote input. When the system on/off switch is activated via VictronConnect, the BMS function will also be inactive. It consists of two terminals: Remote L and Remote H. It is possible to connect a remote on/off switch or a relay between L and H. Alternatively, terminal H can be switched to the plus pole of the battery, or terminal L switched to the minus of the battery.< /p>
Spark proof
No relays but MOSFET switches, and therefore no sparks
