Venus OS v2.57 – News and improvements for Cerbo GX

The latest version of Venus OS provides optimized performance and new features for Cerbo GX, including improved system integration, more stable communication, and smarter energy management for both marine and off-grid installations.

Today we are launching a new version of Venus OS (2.57), the software that is the heart of our GX products. The update focuses on Cerbo GX and includes three important improvements.

1) USB port changed to "power only"

Cerbo GX has three USB ports. One of these has proven unreliable for data communication, despite extensive attempts to fix the problem. This port – closest to the HDMI output – is now configured as "power only" to power the GX Touch.

Manual and datasheet have been updated, and new units will have clear labeling. If you use this port for VE.Direct to USB cable, the connection will cease. We understand that this can be inconvenient, especially for remote installations.

Temporary solution:

  • Revert to previous firmware via Settings → Firmware → Saved backup.
  • Note: VRM logging does not work immediately after downgrade. Contact your dealer for help with the VRM Portal.
  • Plan rewiring and updating at a suitable time. If necessary, USB ports can be extended with a USB hub.

Tip: Avoid automatic firmware updates on remote systems. See Settings → Firmware updates → Online updates.

2) Problem with frozen GX Touch display – fixed

A bug that could cause the GX Touch screen to freeze has now been resolved in this version.

3) Change of VRM Portal ID

Some Cerbo GX units had problems with the VRM Portal ID. The update corrects this and makes the change seamless for all units:

  • New installations can be added with both old and new IDs.
  • Existing installations continue to log data without interruption.
