AIS4000 / AIS5000 Software Upgrade Instructions

How to update the software for an AIS4000 / AIS5000

Keeping your AIS unit updated is crucial to ensure optimal performance and reliability. In this blog post, we will go through step-by-step instructions for updating the software on your AIS4000 or AIS5000. By following these instructions, you can easily and effectively update your unit and benefit from the latest improvements and features.

Requirements for software update:

  1. AIS software image file(s). Download the software from the links below.

      https://www.raymarine.eu/service-and-support/software-updates/ais/ais5000.html

  2. MicroSD card (make sure your microSD card is formatted to FAT or FAT32).

  3. 12/24 VDC power supply with at least 6A capacity.

  4. AIS4000 / AIS5000 Class A AIS transceiver.


AIS4000 / AIS5000 MKD Software Update Process:

  1. First, format your microSD card to FAT or FAT32.

  2. Download the ZIP file and then unzip it, export all files.

  3. Copy all files from the exported folder to the root directory of the microSD card.

  4. Now insert the microSD card into the AIS4000 / AIS5000 and turn on the unit.

  5. You should see the update progress message.

  6. Wait until the software update is complete and do not turn off the unit.

  7. When it is complete, a dialog box will appear with the message "software update completed".

  8. Remove the microSD card and power cycle the AIS unit.

  9. To check that the software has been updated, go to the following screen: Home-->System Settings-->System Information

The software can become corrupted if the power is interrupted during the update process. If this happens, repeat the update process first; depending on the condition, this may restore the software.

AIS4000 / AIS5000 Modem Software Update Process:

  1. First, format your microSD card to FAT or FAT32.

  2. Download the ZIP file and then unzip it, export the ISO file inside.

  3. Copy the ISO file to the root directory of the microSD card.

  4. Make sure the unit is powered on and functioning normally, then insert the microSD card.

  5. When the microSD card is recognized, a dialog box will guide you to the update menu.

  6. The update screen shows the current software versions on the unit and the new software versions available on the microSD card.

  7. Select "UPDATE" if you want to proceed. A progress bar will now appear showing the update progress.

  8. When it is complete, a dialog box will appear with the message "software update completed".

  9. Remove the microSD card and power cycle the AIS unit.

  10. To check that the software has been updated, go to the following screen: Home-->System Settings-->System Information
