YACHT DEVICES YDWN-02, is an NMEA 0183 to Wi-Fi gateway that allows you to wirelessly receive data from NMEA 0183 to a computer, tablet, or mobile. This way, you can view position, course, speed, depth, wind, AIS, and other information in an application. The YDWN-02 has two NMEA 0183 ports (inputs/outputs) that can configure the speed between 300 and 115200 baud. This makes it possible to multiplex data from two devices with different speeds, e.g., navigation data (4800 baud) and AIS (38400 baud). Multiple physical listeners can be connected to the outputs. Both RS-232 and RS-422 are supported. Compatible with COM ports and USB serial adapters.
The YDWN-02 can have its own Wi-Fi network (range approx. 30 meters) or be integrated into an existing Wi-Fi network. If integrated into an existing Wi-Fi network, the range can be significantly longer, and connected devices can access all information wirelessly. It is also possible to configure access via the internet. The gateway supports TCP and UDP networks (both can be in operation simultaneously). It is compatible with virtually all marine programs including OpenCPN, iNavx, Navionics Boating App, MaxSea, Coastal Explorer, and many more.
No external application is needed to view data. The YDWN-02 has colorful web-based gauges from a built-in web page. You can view wind, engine, course, speed, depth, and other information in any web browser. You can customize the page layout and the selection of gauges. You can also view NMEA logs.
To change the settings in the YDWN-02, you need a device connected via Wi-Fi. In the settings, you can configure one or more outputs for any data type, including the same port from which data was received. Multiple data sources can be selected for any output. This makes the YDWN-02 an NMEA 0183 router and multiplexer. Individual filters can be set for incoming and outgoing NMEA 0183 data on any port, which helps reduce traffic on slow connections.
Two gateways can function as an NMEA 0183 wireless extender and allow more physical devices. To pair the devices, you need to set both to use the UDP protocol with the same port number. You can also pair it with a Yacht Devices NMEA 2000 Wi-Fi Gateway. Its server should then be configured as NMEA 0183, which supports bidirectional conversion between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183. This creates a wireless bridge between an NMEA 2000 network and NMEA 0183 devices.
The YDWN-02 automatically records your track with weather, depth, and other data in an internal memory (up to 32000 points). This data can be saved to a GPX file for viewing in Garmin MapSource, Google Earth, or other mapping programs, or as a CSV file for spreadsheets.
Functions
Although the unit's housing is waterproof, the terminal screws are open, and seawater can cause short circuits. Do not place the unit where it can be submerged in water.
