VICTRON ENERGY BAM010702000R, is a battery monitor (fuel gauge) for battery, remaining time and much more. The remaining capacity of the battery depends on the number of amp-hours used, current discharged, temperature and age of the battery. Complex program logarithms are needed to take all these variables into account. In addition to the basic display options such as voltage, current and amp hours consumed, the BMV-700 series also displays state of charge, time remaining and power consumption in watts.

The BMV-702 has an additional input that can be programmed to measure the voltage ( in a second battery), temperature or mid-zone voltage. In order to be able to measure the current to and from the battery, a shunt is mounted between the negative pole of the battery and consumer or charger. The battery monitor can be equipped with a Bluetooth dongle (the BMV-712 has built-in Bluetooth) and you can then check the status of the battery via a smartphone, a tablet or a laptop. All settings on the charger can be made with the VictronConnect app.

Remember that you need a short negative cable between the outgoing negative pole of the battery bank to the inside of the shunt, you need to supplement with one, they are available under this link:

Easy to install
All electrical connections go to a quick connect PCB on the current shunt. The shunt connects to the monitor with a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included: RJ12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m), no other components needed. Also included is a separate front bezel for a square or round screen; a retaining ring for the rear attachment and screws for front mounting.

Very low power consumption from the battery
Power consumption: 0.7 Ah per month (1 mA) @12 V and 0.6 Ah per month (0.8 mA) @ 24 V Lithium-ion batteries in particular lose essentially all capacity when discharged to shutdown due to low voltage. After shutdown due to low voltage, a lithium-ion battery has a capacity reserve of approx. 1 Ah per 100 Ah battery capacity remaining. The battery will be damaged if the remaining capacity reserve is drawn from the battery. A residual current of, for example, 10 mA can damage a 200 Ah battery if the system is left in discharged mode for longer than 8 days.
