VICTRON ENERGY BAT524050705, Lithium SuperPack has Integrated BSM and safety switch. SuperPack batteries are extremely easy to install and require no additional components. The internal switch disconnects the battery in case of overdischarge, overcharge or high temperature.

The SuperPack batteries are extremely easy to install and they do not require any additional components. The internal switch disconnects the battery in case of over-discharge, over-charge, low or high temperature.

Protected against improper use
A lead-acid battery will die prematurely due to sulphation:

  • if it is used in a deficient state for long periods of time (eg if the battery is rarely or never fully charged). 
  • if it is left partially charged, or worse , completely discharged.

A lithium ion battery does not need to be fully charged. Operating life is actually improved if it is partially charged instead of fully charged. This is a major advantage of a lithium-ion battery over a lead-acid battery. The SuperPack batteries will cut off the charge or discharge current when the maximum capacities are exceeded.

Effective
In several applications (especially off-grid solar and/or wind farms) energy efficiency can be of decisive importance. The round-trip efficiency (discharge from 100% to 0% and back to 100% charge) of the average lead-acid battery is 80%. The equivalent for a lithium-ion battery is 92%. The charging process of lead-acid batteries becomes particularly inefficient once an 80% state of charge is reached, resulting in 50% efficiency or even less in solar systems where several days of reserve energy are required (battery is used at 70% to 100% state of charge). However, a lithium ion battery will still achieve 90% efficiency even under shallow discharge conditions.

Can be connected in parallel
The batteries can be connected in parallel. Series connection is not permitted. May only be used in an upright position.
