OCEAN SIGNAL SAFESEA S100 is a rescue transponder (SART) is a radar transponder according to IMO SOLAS regulations. The SeaSafe S100 SART is made to assist in the rescue of life rafts or vessels in distress. When activated, it is in a standby mode until it is automatically activated by an X-band radar when it sweeps from a nearby vessel. The SafeSea S100 sends out a series of pulses that are automatically displayed on the ship's radar screen as a line of dots, giving a bearing to the person in distress. The activation is identical to that of the SafeSea E100 EPIRB which makes it easier for a user above.

SART is required on all IMO SOLAS vessels with international traffic:

  • 1 unit of 300-500 GRT
  • 2 units over 500 GRT
  • One SART for every fourth life raft on ro-ro passenger ships
    • < li>National traffic including fishing vessels, passenger vessels, commercial work boats etc.
  • Most super and mega yachts must have SART, especially if they are subject to MCA regulations, which is practiced by many countries
