On January 28, 2026, Victron Energy released firmware v1.16 for the Lynx Smart BMS NG and Lithium NG series . The new update includes several important improvements for those using Victron lithium systems – most notably around State of Charge (SoC) , temperature display and more intelligent handling of ATC/ATD limits .
Below we go over what's new, what's fixed, and why this update is well worth installing.
SoC synchronization has long been a central part of how a Victron battery system optimizes charging, operation and lifespan. In v1.16, Victron has:
The result: A more reliable and consistent SoC display – especially for those with larger load variations, such as in inverter operation or solar production.
In NG models, the battery temperature was sometimes displayed incorrectly when the cells were below 0°C.
This was a pure display bug – the battery protection system was working normally the whole time.
In v1.16:
An important quality upgrade for those who drive year-round or in colder climates.
Previously, Victron used a fixed limit for ATC/ATD (Allowed To Charge / Allowed To Discharge) errors.
It wasn't always optimal, especially for larger installations.
With firmware v1.16:
This is a really good improvement for those of you with multiple parallel-connected lithium batteries.
The timeout before an ATC/ATD error is triggered has been increased to 60 seconds .
This means:
A small but very effective fine trimmer from Victron.
The complete changelog is available as usual in the Victron Professional firmware library.
You can install firmware v1.16 in several ways:
Firmware v1.16 is a recommended update for all users of:
You get:
✔ more accurate SoC display
✔ accurate temperature display at sub-zero temperatures
✔ fewer false ATC/ATD errors
✔ more predictable operation in larger battery banks
✔ better overall stability of the entire system
In short – a small update that has a big impact.
