Lynx Smart BMS & Lithium NG – Firmware v1.16: improved SoC sync, smarter ATC/ATD and important bug fixes

Victron Energy releases firmware v1.16 for Lynx Smart BMS NG and Lithium NG batteries – with better SoC accuracy, corrected temperature display and more reliable ATC/ATD management for all system sizes.

On January 28, 2026, Victron Energy released firmware v1.16 for the Lynx Smart BMS NG and Lithium NG series . The new update includes several important improvements for those using Victron lithium systems – most notably around State of Charge (SoC) , temperature display and more intelligent handling of ATC/ATD limits .

Below we go over what's new, what's fixed, and why this update is well worth installing.

Improved SoC synchronization – more accurate charge status in all modes

SoC synchronization has long been a central part of how a Victron battery system optimizes charging, operation and lifespan. In v1.16, Victron has:

  • improved how SoC syncs when power quickly switches between charging and discharging
  • made the algorithm more stable with fluctuating loads
  • reduced the risk of incorrect SoC jumps

The result: A more reliable and consistent SoC display – especially for those with larger load variations, such as in inverter operation or solar production.

Corrected temperature display at sub-zero temperatures

In NG models, the battery temperature was sometimes displayed incorrectly when the cells were below 0°C.
This was a pure display bug – the battery protection system was working normally the whole time.

In v1.16:

  • correct battery temperature is displayed even at sub-zero temperatures
  • temperature alarm and protection work exactly as before

An important quality upgrade for those who drive year-round or in colder climates.

Smarter ATC/ATD limits – scales with battery bank size

Previously, Victron used a fixed limit for ATC/ATD (Allowed To Charge / Allowed To Discharge) errors.
It wasn't always optimal, especially for larger installations.

With firmware v1.16:

  • ATC/ATD limits automatically adjust to total battery capacity
  • higher currents are accepted in larger systems
  • the risk of unnecessary ATC/ATD errors is significantly reduced

This is a really good improvement for those of you with multiple parallel-connected lithium batteries.

Extended timeout – fewer unnecessary interruptions

The timeout before an ATC/ATD error is triggered has been increased to 60 seconds .

This means:

  • chargers and loads take longer to stabilize
  • fewer false alarms
  • more stable operation in systems with varying currents

A small but very effective fine trimmer from Victron.
