Life on board with Raymarine

The businessman from Connecticut, Raf Aviner, relies on; electronics from Raymarine and FLIR to support his family and their MCY 76 Skylounge is going to sea.
Raf Aviner and his family love the boat life. With their home port of Connecticut as their starting point, the Aviner family spends a lot of time in the waters of the Long Island Sound, often sailing along the Hudson River and up the east coast of Northern Maine. ”We spend a lot of time onå the boat”, says Raf, and the “the boat” är his current båt, a MCY (Monte Carlo Yachts) 76 Skylounge. ”We äout onå see a lot, from June to October along the north coast and all winter along both coasts of Florida. Even now we are not out on the Since the boat is used regularly as a floating vehicle, I also use it; as an office.”
Raf switched to motorboats almost ten years ago and has owned three yachts since then. They twoå most recent has been MCY. ”From the beginning, the idea was to use the boat to get away from work, but I quickly discovered that I really love working on board, it’s my favorite place” ; says Raf.
His desire to work from the boat became an important factor in the construction of his current 76 Skylounge, the first of its kind since the Same Italian manufacturer. ”It was not optimal forå my två the first carries, says Aviner. ”I was either sitting in the cabin with a laptop on my lap or in the saloon. I never really had a space of my own. We wanted more interior space in the saloon, and to avoid having the control desk down there on the; the new 76 really opens things up for us. MCY also doubled; the space onå the flybridge in the new 76. When that space was partitioned off, we got a very large second salon that serves as a nice, quiet office for me, where I can work even more comfortably and efficiently from the boat.”
Raf, who is often alone in command of boat, started looking for techniques that would improve situational awareness and safety even before his 76 Skylounge – beställd with twin diesel engines onå 1650 HP MAN – was even close to being done. A complete system of the very latest electronics from Raymarine and FLIR became the solution, piqued Raf's delight and provided the premium functionality and peace of mind he was looking for.
”Among other things. "I was looking for a camera system that would provide some sort of aerial view around the boat that would allow maneuvering in tight waters," says Raf. ”I was introduced to a Raymarine representative who could fö rclear the new DockSense™- warning system. I was impressed and we decided on it. I am happy with it, it is a very good system that is reliable and works well.”
A recent study on mission by Raymarine showed that over 70% of experienced captains reported experiencing some degree of stress when docking. DockSense Alert gives skippers like Raf Aviner the confidence to maneuver the vessel when visibility is limited, helping to avoid embarrassing or, even worse, costly misses.
DockSense Alert is integrated with the båtens multifunction displays Raymarine Axiom® gives a bird's-eye view in real time of the ship and its immediate surroundings. Raymarine's stereo 3D cameras deliver live video to the driver's seat – or any other control station with Axiom display – and utilizes advanced motion sensors to precisely measure the distance between the bar and external frames. The system also emits acoustic and visual warnings and intelligently informs Raf or his commander of objects that are otherwise out of sight from the helm.
”After having had another electronics brand, it felt a little weird at first when I moved to Raymarine, but my friends on; MCY were adamant," says Raf, who considers himself a tech geek. "I have to say I'm very happy with the technology. We think Raymarine's ClearCruiseTM AR system (first reality) < /span> is very useful for navigation, as is the FLIR M364C, which uses thermal cameras and HD visible light cameras for clear images while walking in all lighting conditions; Both these systems – integrate well with all other Raymarine equipment and are real game-changers.” have the best and latest systems on board, and Raymarine has certainly delivered."
At the time of our interview, the Aviners' boat was still in Gulf of Mexico, but the agent eagerly awaited its arrival in Connecticut, he says family's daily life and we really miss her when we are not together. We are lucky to have a lot of beautiful waters and exciting destinations to explore here in the North America and really look forward to coming back. about our summer sailings.”
