Older autopilots with AXIOM

AXIOM MFDs (multi function displays) are designed to integrate directly with current generation Evolution autopilots through the STng network which allows control of the autopilot directly from the AXIOM screen, provided the system is networked via STng. This makes it possible for the user to construct a route made up of waypoints and instruct the Evolution autopilot to follow this route using the AXIOM screen.

In general, older autopilots using SeaTalk can be connected to STng via SeaTalk to STng converter, but see below for more information on which older autopilots have been tested and can be connected via St to STng converter and which must be connected via NMEA 0183*.

*) Raytheon/Autohelm autopilots as type 100/300, ST4000 and ST5000 supported an earlier version of SeaTalk communication protocol on Raymarine autopilots with a SeaTalk communication interface such as Type 150, 400, ST4000+, ST5000+, S1/S1G, S2/S2G, S3/S3G , SPX5/10/30, etc..

På due to the differences in these versions of the SeaTalk protocol, it is not recommended that a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter be used as a data bridge with these Raytheon autopilot course computers. Instead, it is recommended to connect to the system via the NMEA 0183 communication protocol.

If the system to be connected does not have an MFD that has a NMEA 0183 communication interface and has a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 trunk , it would be recommended that a NMEA 0183 to SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1) -ISO-STNG, etc.) is used to connect the autopilot to the SeaTalkng network.

Legacy autopilots - i.e. all non-Evolution systems, (including SPX systems that are connected to the network via STng and may have a p70/p70R controller) will not be able to be controlled directly from the AXIOM screens . However, you can still create a route with waypoints or a single waypoint GOTO på AXIOM screen and select the FOLLOW/GOTO option, which now makes the route or GOTO active.

If you want the autopilot to follow the route that is now active on ; MFD - you must activate AUTO on; the older autopilot controller, (for example p70/p70R / ST6002) and then select TRACK mode, after you confirm FÖLJ SPÅR alarm, the autopilot will then follow the route på AXIOM to the next turning point.
