YACHT DEVICES YDWR-02 WIFI-ROUTER, is a smart NMEA 0183 and SeaTalk multiplexer that also allows viewing data from marine products on a computer or mobile. With it you get, among other things, course, speed, position, wind speed and direction, depth, AIS from ships and aircraft and other navigation data to popular navigation programs and apps. The router has four physical NMEA 0183 ports (four inputs and four outputs) with configurable speed from 300 to 115200 baud. It makes it possible to organize data exchange between several devices that have different speeds. Multiple listeners can be connected to the router's output. SeaTalk is a proprietary protocol from Raymarine. It allows multiple devices on the bus, so the router only has one SeaTalk port. A bidirectional converter between SeaTalk and NMEA 0183 supports all SeaTalk data, including autopilot. This makes it possible to control an autopilot from a NMEA 0183 plotter or marine app.
The router creates its own wifi network (range is about 30 meters), or can be connected to an existing wifi network. The router has three data servers that can be configured for UDP or TCP protocols. With the UDP protocol, the number of connected clients is unlimited. In the settings, you can select one or more outputs (physical ports or TCP/UDP servers) for any data source, including the same port or server from which the data is received.
The router basically supports all marine applications, including OpenCPN, iNavx, Navionics, MaxSea, Coastal Explorer and SeaPilot. But to see the data, you don't need to install any software. The router has colored web-based meters via a built-in web server. Through it you can see wind, engine data, tanks, batteries, course, speed, depth and other data directly in a browser. You can customize the layout and choose what to display. You can also view NMEA logs. No internet is needed.
To change the router's settings, you need a wifi-connected device (computer or mobile) and a browser. In the settings, you can select one or more outputs, physical ports or TCP/UDP servers for any data source, including the same port that the data comes from. Multiple data sources can be selected for any physical or network output. Individual filters can be defined for incoming and outgoing NMEA 0183 or SeaTalk data to all outputs. It makes it possible to reduce data on slow connections. The default speed of 4800 baud is not enough for AIS which has 38400 baud. Although the router's housing is waterproof, the terminal connections are open and water can cause a short circuit. Do not place the device where it can be washed away by water.
The router automatically records your track with weather, depth and other data to the internal memory (up to 32,000 points). This data can be saved via the built-in web server to GPX format (for Garmin, Google Earth or other mapping programs) or CSV format for spreadsheet programs.
