YACHT DEVICES YDRA-01, is a rudder angle adapter for NMEA 2000 that allows you to connect an existing resistive rudder angle sensor, located on a rudder, to an NMEA 2000 autopilot, plotter, or other NMEA 2000 device. The YDRA-01 can be used with all resistive sensors up to 400 ohms European standard (10 to 180 ohms) or American standard (240 to 33 ohms), as well as sensors with 0-5V. The adapter can be installed for standalone use, together with an existing digital instrument, or in parallel with an existing analog gauge (1-coil and 2-coil supported). If you have a combined gauge where you choose to display the value with a button, the adapter also works.
Connection in parallel with an existing analog 1-coil (left) and 2-coil (right) gauge: (1) - YDRA, (2) - Gauge, (3) - Rudder sensor, (4) - Optional button. The rudder angle can be calibrated with up to seven calibration points to compensate for non-linear resistive values. Inaccuracies due to cable problems can also be compensated in the unit's settings. The adapter has a Micro-SD card slot for programming, software updates, diagnostics, and data recording. No special software is needed. Only a computer or mobile device with Micro-SD and a text editor.
