Raymarine Sonar - A Guide to Technology, Transducers and Adapters
Digital Skipper |20/01, 2022
Raymarine offers a wide range of sonar technologies for all types of marine life and fishing. Axiom and Axiom Pro are available with built-in Realvision 3D sonar that offers great performance and easy installation.
But there are alsoå a range of different technologies together with even more concepts, sensor types, necessary adapter cables, etc. to bring a new solution for place or retain parts of an existing solution in a partially new installation. Here we shed some light on some of the most common questions along with a competent guide on which transducers work with which system and which adapter cables are needed.
Raymarine today has four technologies for Sonar: RealVision™3D Sonar, SideVision™ Sonar, DownVision™ Sonar and Digital / CHIRP Sonar, which are described in more detail below.
RealVision™3D Sonar
RealVision 3D is available on both; Axiom and Axiom Pro and gives the fisherman the opportunity to see what is under, behind and to the sides of the boat and all at the same time in 3 dimensions. With ultra-fast quad-core processor and gyro-stabilized sensor technology, RealVision 3D creates a complete underwater world including bottom structure, wrecks, fish and vegetation - all with exceptional clarity. Twist, turn and zoom in the 3D image to explore from all angles. You can even pause and rewind the image to take a closer look and add a waypoint directly to the sonar image. By activating the GPS tracking function, the RealVision 3D function will use the GPS position to draw an accurate 3D model of the underwater world in real time.
SideVision™ Sonar
SideVision is available on the CP200, Axiom and Axiom Pro and expands your underwater horizon with crystal clear images of moths, baitfish and bottom structures. Made with the same CHIRP sonar technology as Raymarine's award-winning DownVision and with the same advanced CHIRP signal processing technology so; that you can see further, see more clearly and find more fish with traditional side-scanning sonar.
Raymarine CHIRP signal processing provides high resolution and has excellent performance on; large distances. Identify lures and see fish even further away, på distance up to 183 m (600 ft) on each side.
DownVision™ Sonar
CHIRP DownVision is available on; CP100, Axiom, Axiom Pro and Dragonfly series. DownVision creates a photo-like image of the world under the boat and gives you a detailed view of bottom structures and fish.
- Photo-like images of bottom structures with CHIRP DownVision
- With double channels display top-resolved images of bottom structures with CHIRP DownVision and baitfish with CHIRP sonar simultaneously
- Perfectly synchronized two-channel CHIRP transducers for transom or through-hull mounting in plastic or bronze. ul>
Digital / CHIRP Sonar
Digital Sonar is available via CP370, Axiom and Axiom Pro and provides you an exceptional clarity, clearer fishing cone and setup automation through a new generation of Raymarine's ClearPulse digital sonar processing. Digital Sonar transmits on; 200kHz for shallower water and 50kHz for sea fishing on; deeper water. ClearPulse signal processing can på an intelligent way to automatically adapt several setting parameters for all conceivable situations such as; that you as a fisherman can spend more time on fishing instead of setting your sonar system.
Below is a relatively complete sensor guide where it is clearly stated which sensor fits which plotter with hä ;lp of which adapter.
