Dynamic ESS is ideal for owners of home energy storage systems with solar panels, battery storage, and grid connection controlled via a GX device. A grid energy meter further improves accuracy and cost savings.

What does Dynamic ESS do?

Dynamic ESS intelligently switches between battery storage, solar energy, and the grid. Using an advanced algorithm, low-cost energy is stored for use when prices are high.

How does it work?

The algorithm takes into account:

• Current energy prices
• Battery type and lifespan
• Capacity and State of Charge (SoC)
• Charge/discharge rates
• Historical energy consumption (4 weeks)
• Solar forecast based on your location

How do you implement Dynamic ESS?

Dynamic ESS is available from Venus OS v3.30 on GX devices such as Cerbo GX. You can configure the function via the GX interface or remotely via Victron Remote Management (VRM).

Steps to activate:

1. Check that you are running v3.30 or later.
2. Update firmware via VRM, SD card, or USB stick.
3. Go to Settings → ESS Assistant → Dynamic ESS.
4. Fill in the necessary information (takes about 15 minutes).
