VICTRON ENERGY ORI121217050, is an advancement of Orion XS with less EMC interference and is based on a completely new design for DC-DC charging which revolutionizes adaptive DC-DC charging and is used in systems with dual batteries charged and an (intelligent) generator. This unit not only guarantees top-level performance but also ensures the safety of your system. OrionXS functions as a DC-DC battery charger or as a power source, and offers a wide input and output voltage range. This is particularly important for vehicles with a Euro 5 or Euro 6 smart generator, which often delivers too low charging voltage even when the engine is running or with extended cable lengths, which is often the case in boats and motorhomes, leading to voltage drops. In such scenarios, precise and controlled charging is absolutely necessary to fully charge the service battery while protecting the starter/input battery from discharge.
Maintain charging with configurable input and output currents, and be assured that your Orion XS DC-DC battery charger will run at full capacity up to 40°C. The innovative cooling technology for aluminum circuit boards provides an astonishing 98% efficiency without the need for fans. As an integrated part of your Victron system, Orion XS DC-DC battery charger offers full (remote) monitoring and control functions, giving you complete control over your device and your system.
Adjustable charging current
The charging current is adjustable with a minimum step size of 0.1A via VictronConnect.
Smart generator compatibility
An integrated mechanism detects if the engine is running (engine shutdown detection), which only activates the charger when the generator is supplying power. This ensures that the charger only draws power when the generator is supplying power, i.e., when the engine is running.
Adaptive 4-step charging algorithm
For lead batteries, it is important that during shallow discharges the absorption time is kept short to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully charged. OrionXS includes fully programmable charging algorithms and eight pre-programmed battery settings.
Low temperature shutdown and input undervoltage protection
To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger automatically shuts off at low temperatures. It also shuts off when the input voltage drops below a configurable threshold and restarts when the input voltage rises above the restart value, this to protect the input source, i.e., the starter battery from deep discharge.
Remote control on/off
OrionXS can be turned on and off remotely via the remote control on/off contact or the VictronConnect app. Typical applications include wiring a switch or Battery Management System (BMS).
Comprehensive electronic protection
Protections include overload, short circuit, and high temperatures. The charger is protected against overtemperature by reducing the output power when the maximum product temperature is reached.
Can be connected in parallel to increase output current
An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel.
Bluetooth Smart enabled
Built-in Bluetooth Smart: The wireless solution for changing settings, monitoring activities, and updating OrionXS software with Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, or other devices. Various parameters can be adjusted with the VictronConnect app. Immediate reading: The VictronConnect app can display key data, including warnings and alarms, on the Device List page without needing to connect to the product.
VE.Direct port
For a wired connection to a GX device such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, PC, or other devices. Enables advanced monitoring, control, and diagnostics anywhere (requires a GX device connected to the internet and VRM Portal) or locally via the remote console.
IP65 protection
OrionXS meets the ingress protection class IP65. This means the product is dustproof and protected against heavy rain.
