VICTRON ENERGY SKI024080000, SKYLLA-I is a modern and powerful 24V battery charger that can withstand the stresses of harsh environments: heat, humidity, and salty atmosphere. The Skylla-I (1+1) is equipped with 2 isolated outputs. The second output, which is limited to approximately 4 A and has a slightly lower output voltage, is intended for charging a starter battery. The Skylla-I (3) is equipped with 3 isolated outputs. All outputs deliver full rated current.
Robust
Aluminum epoxy powder-coated casing with drip protection and stainless steel fasteners withstands difficulties in adverse environments: heat, humidity, and salt air. The circuit boards are protected with an acrylic coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Temperature sensors ensure that power components always operate within specified limits, if necessary for automatic reduction of output current under extreme environmental conditions.
Flexible
Next to a CAN bus interface (NMEA2000), a rotary switch, DIP switches, and potentiometers are available to adapt the charging algorithm to a specific battery and its operating conditions. See the manual for a complete overview of the possibilities (manual is linked further down the page).
Correct charging for a lead-acid battery: variable absorption time
When only shallow discharges occur, the absorption time is kept short to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Battery voltage
To compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, the Skylla-i is equipped with a voltage sensing feature so that the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
Use as a power source
As a result of the perfectly stabilized output voltage, the Skylla-i can be used as a power source if batteries or large buffer capacitors are not available.
