VICTRON ENERGY PSC125053085, is a 5-stage charger with 12V/50A (3): three outputs for charging battery banks. All outputs can deliver full rated current, but the total of the three outputs together can never exceed the current capacity of the charger. Bluetooth is included and you can monitor the charger and set alarms directly from your phone. Adaptable, intelligent and dynamic charging functions. Connection cable, ADA010100100, purchased separately.
Bluetooth Smart compatible
Any smartphone, tablet or other device compatible with Bluetooth Smart can be used to monitor, change settings and to update the charger when new software features become available.
Phoenix Smart (1+1): two outputs for charging 2 battery banks
The second output, which is limited to about 3 A and which has a slightly lower output voltage, is intended for charging a starter battery.
Phoenix Smart (3): three full current outputs for charging 3 battery banks
All outputs can deliver full rated current but the total of the three outputs together can never exceed the current capacity of the charger.
Automatic voltage compensation
The charger compensates for the voltage drop in the DC cables by gradually increase the output voltage as the DC current rises. See the user manual for further details.
Adaptive charging algorithm in 5 steps: bulk-absorption-reconditioning-float-storage
The Phoenix Smart charger uses our well-known “adaptive” battery management system that can pre-programmed to fit different types of batteries. The adaptation function will automatically optimize the charging process in relation to the way the battery is used.
Right amount of charging: Variable absorption time
When only shallow discharges occur (for example a yacht connected to shore current) the absorption time is shortened to prevent overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Prevent damage due to excessive gassing: BatterySafe mode
If a high charging current in combination with a high absorption voltage has been chosen to quickly charge a battery, the charger will prevent damage caused by excessive gas development by automatically limiting the rate of voltage rise as soon as the gas voltage has been reached.
Less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use: Storage mode
The storage mode is always activated when the battery has not been exposed to discharge for 24 hours. In the storage mode, the float voltage is reduced to 2.2 V/cell (13.2 V for 12 V batteries) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive electrode plates. Once a week the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to "balance" the battery. This function prevents electrolyte deposits and sulphation, one of the main causes of premature battery failure.
Also charges lithium-ion batteries (LiFePO₄)
An on-off control in the charger can be implemented by connecting an open-collector relay or switch from a lithium-ion BMS to the remote control port. Alternatively, full control of voltage and current can be achieved using Bluetooth.
Fully programmable charging algorithm
The charging algorithm can be programmed using Bluetooth or the VE.Direct interface. Three pre-programmed algorithms can be selected with the "mode" button.
Remote control on/off
The remote control on/off consists of two terminals: Remote H and Remote L. A remote switch or a relay contact can be connected between H and L. Alternatively, terminal H can be pulled up or terminal L pulled down. See the manual for details (manual is linked further down the page).
VE.Direct interface
For a hardwired data connection to a Color Control panel, PC or other devices.
Programmable relay
Can be programmed with the VE.Direct interface or a Bluetooth-enabled device to trigger on alarms or other events.
