RAYMARINE Quantum 2, 18" Q24D, is a CHIRP Radar with Doppler technology for collision avoidance. Quantum 2 with next-generation CHIRP pulse compression radar
RAYMARINE Quantum 2, 18" Q24D, is a CHIRP Radar with Doppler technology for collision avoidance. Quantum 2 with next-generation CHIRP pulse compression radar by Raymarine provides superior target images at both long and extremely short range.
Using advanced Doppler processing, the system immediately highlights moving objects detected by the radar and color-codes them to indicate whether they are moving towards or away from you. Quantum with Doppler makes it easy to distinguish potentially dangerous targets when navigating in heavily trafficked waters.
Easily identifies dangerous targets
Raymarine Quantum 2 with Doppler target processing easily identifies and color-codes moving objects detected by the radar so they can be immediately recognized, thereby reducing the risk of collision.
Superior collision avoidance
MARPA with Quantum 2 is a convenient way to track dangerous targets. Raymarine MARPA's target tracking uses the same technology as the US Coast Guard.
How Doppler Radar works
Microwave energy bounces off a distant target, just like with traditional radar. Moving targets return echoes at frequencies that vary upwards or downwards compared to what was originally transmitted. For approaching targets, the frequency increases as the "leading edge" of the returned echoes is received more frequently as the distance to the target decreases. For receding targets, the frequency decreases as the returned echoes spread out as the distance increases. Doppler radar is designed to detect these small variations in wave frequency and use them to classify moving radar targets.
