OCEAN SIGNAL RESCUEME MOB1 is the world's smallest AIS MOB emergency transmitter with integrated DSC. The MOB1 is compatible with most inflatable life jackets. The MOB1 is designed to be installed in the life jacket and activates automatically when the vest inflates, sending its first emergency message within 15 seconds. The integrated flashing light provides maximum visibility in low light conditions. The MOB1 communicates with the vessel you have been separated from and with other nearby vessels (up to 5 NM depending on conditions). For alerting emergency services, there is an alternative product, rescueME PLB1, which communicates directly with a satellite network for SAR.
In an emergency, the rescueME MOB1 provides two methods of quickly communicating your position with an accuracy of a few meters back to the vessel, plus visual indication via the built-in flashing light. The best chance for a quick rescue if you fall overboard comes from your own boat. The crew must immediately be aware of the incident and steer towards your position while rescue is performed. Even in the calmest waters, it is alarming how quickly visual contact with a person in the water can be lost. When the MOB1 is activated, it sends an alarm to all AIS receivers and connected displays nearby. The integrated GPS ensures that an exact position is sent to your vessel and others who can assist. Another feature of the MOB1 is the ability to activate a DSC alarm on your vessel's VHF, alerting the crew to the situation.
Compatibility: Most modern chartplotters connected with an AIS and DSC VHF can receive MOB messages. Older systems may sometimes not display the symbol correctly. In such cases, check and update the display's software.
