The Recreational Boater's Radar Book with AIS covers the radar's basic settings and goes through how to practically navigate with radar and plotter in a safe way to avoid grounding and collision. The book explains the differences between magnetron and solid state radars. A chapter is devoted to different satellite systems, AIS, DSC in VHF, MMSI and more. The book is richly illustrated with color pictures, most of which are from radars of the latest model and taken during operation.
The radar book with AIS also contains the international rules of the sea for radar, paper plotting and exercises for each chapter. The book is a course book for radar courses and meets the knowledge requirements issued by the Board for boating education, NFB, to obtain a Radar certificate. The radar certificate is valid for Ship Commander class VIII.
