YACHT DEVICES YDWG-02R, is a Wi-Fi gateway that allows you to view data from a marine NMEA 2000 network on a computer, tablet, or mobile. With it, you get network data such as speed, course, position, wind direction, depth, AIS, and other navigation data in popular navigation apps.
The YDWG-02 can have its own Wi-Fi network (range approx. 30 meters) or be integrated into an existing Wi-Fi network. If integrated into an existing Wi-Fi network, the range can be significantly longer, and connected devices can access all information wirelessly. It is also possible to configure access via the internet.
To configure the device, a Wi-Fi device (computer, tablet, or mobile) with a web browser is needed. Settings can be factory reset with a hidden button.
The device functions as a bidirectional gateway, so it is also possible to send messages from a computer via TCP and UDP network protocols (both can be activated simultaneously). For UDP, the number of clients (physical devices or programs) is unlimited. Compatible with almost all navigation apps including SeaPilot, Transas iSailor, Navionics, MaxSea, iNavx, and OpenCPN.
The device has a bidirectional converter between NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183, which means that the YDWG-02 can be used for virtually all marine applications and common programs.
The integrated web page allows you to easily view data directly in a web browser without needing to install an app. The web-based gauges make it easy to get all data. The layout and its content can be customized. You can also view recorded logs.
Tracking/Recording
The YDWG-02 also supports the RAW protocol used in Expedition and CAN Log Viewer. It makes it possible to transfer all NMEA 2000 PGNs (including proprietary) to and from a computer. It is possible to record messages to a .CAN file and/or monitor everything with CAN Log Viewer (free for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux). This can be useful for NMEA 2000 or J1939 network settings and troubleshooting. The recorded .CAN file can be converted to a .DAT file and transformed into GPX tracks, spreadsheets, or other formats. Of course, it's not as simple as using a Voyage Recorder, but it works.
