YACHT DEVICES YDNB-07R, is a bridge to unite several physical networks into one. The device can also filter and process sent messages.

This solves the following:

  • Overcoming the physical limitations of a SeaTalkNG network ( 100 meters trunk cable, 72 meters drop cable and 50 units per NMEA 2000 network). Up to 5 separate subnets can be combined into one large network.

  • Isolate devices from each other. By using a simple filter, it is possible to block part or all messages from a device in another subnet.

  • Make sure the equipment is working well. It is possible to correct offset values on depth sensors or remove certain messages that may disturb others.

  • Make sure that compatibility increases between different generations. Any NMEA 2000 message can be created and sent from other messages on the network.

  • Diagnoses errors. The device can record messages on a MicroSD card. You can view the data in a standard text editor.

  • Free diagnostic software is included for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It can also play, display and convert binary log files.

  • Safely connect products that are not certified for NMEA 2000. One of the ports has a galvanic isolation and works even with higher voltage supply.< br>
  • Create gateways for networks based on CAN protocol at 250 kbps. For example, it is possible to create a gateway for J1939 to NMEA 2000.

The bridge can compile programs using a simple programming language. You can create an application on any device and transfer the file to a MicroSD card. The program can save all NMEA 2000 messages and variables in a text file on a MicroSD card. The bridge can also save all messages from both connections (CAN1 and CAN2) in a binary log file (.CAN format) that can be opened, viewed and converted with the free CAN Log Viewer program. It can be valuable in troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Programming the bridge requires knowledge of NMEA 2000. A copy of the NMEA 2000 standard can be purchased from NMEA, National Marine Electronics Association, www.nmea.org.

The cable between the two interfaces is 50 cm. Current consumption is for CAN1 38 mA (LEN1) and for CAN2 13 mA (LEN1).

NOTE! The YDNB-07 must have the correct configuration to work. A configuration file, YDNB.CFG, is copied to a microSD card (not included), placed in the YDEG-NB and then loaded. The text in the file controls which data is to be bridged between the different NMEA networks. See sample file below that transmits all messages in all directions. Read more in the manual how the configuration file is made.

YDNB-07 is available in two versions:

  • YDNB-07N for NMEA 2000.
  • YDNB-07R for SeaTalkNG.
