VHF RADIO - Manual GPS source missing - NO POSITION DATA

If you see the messages "Manual GPS source missing" or "NO POSITION DATA" on your Ray53-63-73-90-91 VHF radio, it may be because the manual GPS source setting is not correctly configured. This can happen if the multifunction display was turned off when the MDS was configured or if it is a new/repaired VHF radio installed after the MDS configuration. To resolve this issue, follow our guide below.

If the manual setting of a GPS source on a VHF radio is not properly configured from a multifunction display, either because it was turned off when the MDS was configured on the MFD or because it is a new/repaired VHF radio installed after the MDS configuration.

See the GPS MANUAL selection on an AXIOM system in the image below.

The VHF radio will not accept GPS information from any other source but will detect that it is missing the GPS source (and not GPS data) and display "MANUAL GPS SOURCE MISSING".

See the images below of the Ray 53-63-73-90-91 VHF radios (with the latest software) showing the two different messages:

SELECTED GPS SOURCE DATA NOT RECEIVED

NO GPS DATA RECEIVED FROM ANY SOURCE

NOTE: See the image below of OLD VHF radios (with old software) showing the same message in both conditions:
