Update v1.12 – Improved VHF communication for Orion XS

On June 5, 2025, version 1.12 of the software was released – an update that applies to all models in the Orion XS series. This release focuses on improving radio communication, particularly for users who have experienced interference with their VHF systems.

What’s New?

The most important improvement in v1.12 is a fix for VHF radio interference that has affected several models. The update includes:

• Fix for VHF interference on all Orion XS models.
• Specific improvement for Orion XS 12/12-50 with part number ORI121217040.
• Corrections for the first production batches of the Orion XS 1400.

Why Is This Important?

VHF radio is a critical component for safe communication at sea. Interference can affect both reception and transmission, which in turn can compromise navigation and coordination. By addressing these issues in v1.12, the Orion XS systems ensure reliable communication even under challenging conditions.

How to Update

There are two easy ways to update to version 1.12:

1. Via the Victron Connect App

   • Connect to your Orion XS unit via Bluetooth or USB.
   • The app will automatically detect the available update.
   • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

2. Via the VRM Portal (for users with Cerbo GX)

   • Log in to https://vrm.victronenergy.com.
   • Navigate to your device and select “Remote Firmware Update.”
   • Select version 1.12 and start the update.
