MMSI programming on Raymarine AIS700

This blog post addresses Raymarine AIS700 (v1.17 and later) as well as PROAIS2 (v1.24.02 and later) and note that you need a "fully wired" USB cable (not included with the product) and it does not work with a pure "USB charging cable".

Before using your product for the first time, you must configure it with the included proAIS2 software via a PC connected to the USB connection.

You can download PROAIS2 from this link. Note that this is only intended for Windows - 7/10/11 and Mac O/S/ Big Sur.

Once PROAIS2 is installed and ready to use, follow the guide below to program an AIS700.

  1. The first step is to connect the AIS700 to the computer/laptop and wait until a driver has been assigned. This can take 10-20 seconds.

  2. Open PROAIS2 and select the COM port assigned to AIS700 and then press Connect.

  3. Now enter MMSI and other vessel information such as vessel name, call sign, vessel type. If known, add information about where the GPS receiver is mounted and press Write configuration to save.

  4. Now press Disconnect and reconnect to verify that the configuration has been saved in AIS700.
