Superior visualization with the autopilot

Alpha Performance Displays is a valuable tool for visualizing and interacting with instrument data, and now the Alpha display is even more powerful. Starting with software version Alpha 3.0, boat owners can take advantage of an exciting new feature – Evolution autopilot control – that is seamlessly integrated into all Alpha instruments.

Whether you're sailing or motorboating, Alpha's large and bright display provides intuitive Autopilot control via touch screen.

Seamless control of Evolution autopilot control

Alpha's large and responsive touchscreen interface now fully supports Raymarine Evolution- autopilots. Alpha's autopilot control supports all major autopilot operating modes, including course control, navigation mode and wind angle control.

In navigation mode, a 3D presentation shows your boat relative to the plotted route with visual guidance with cross-track error and waypoint information. In the navigation mode, there is also the possibility to select Avoid and Resume route which allows you to quickly maneuver around unexpected obstacles and then return to your planned course. When steering by wind angle, Alpha gives the sailor the option to choose between steering by true wind angle, apparent wind angle or steering by the boat's pole for maximum performance.

In addition to Evolution autopilot control, you can with Alpha visualize all the boat's navigational, environmental and system data with customizable digital displays, analogue gauges, histograms and much more. Alpha also supports networked video sources such as FLIR thermal and Raymarine visible light cameras.

Upgrading your Alpha system

Upgrading to the new version Alpha 3.0 is easy. Access the software update function from your connected Axiom chartplotter (Home > Settings > Software Update) and Axiom can download the software from the internet.

Once you have updated your Alpha software, it is easy to add the new autopilot control. You access Alpha's page manager by swiping from the top of the screen and selecting Pages Settings. Choose to add a new page, then scroll down and select the Autopilot preset layout.
