ICOM 10170, Has GMDSS station that meets the requirements of SOLAS regulated vessels. The Icom GM600 has a large and clear display that can be set to day or night mode for optimal readability. The new graphical interface makes the radio simple and intuitive to use. The Icom GM600 meets the GMDSS requirements required for commercial SOLAS regulated vessels operating in international waters. In addition, when supplemented with the PS-310 DC/DC converter, the GM600 MED meets the "Wheel mark" requirements for European merchant ships.

The GM600 has a dedicated DSC receiver that continuously monitors channel 70 independent of the main receiver or other operational aspects . The DSC function can display up to 7 received and transmitted DSC messages and when using the DSC screen, the selected channel is displayed on the right side of the screen.
