AMIT IDG780, is a very fast, competent and reliable 5G router. It also has one of the fastest 4G modules with LTE Cat 20, offering Gigabit performance on 4G (if the network/subscription supports it). Our preliminary tests on Telia's and Tele2's 5G networks in Stockholm show 970 Mbit/s in downlink and approximately 175 Mbit/s in uplink. The IDG780 is designed for applications that require fast internet access with higher uplink performance than the 4G network can offer. The IDG780 works in transparent mode if you want to use it outside an existing firewall as a primary or secondary connection. The IDG780 also works excellently in an office environment as a 5G router or a firewall with failover to 5G in case of operational problems with the regular connection.
Extra reliable
The IDG780 is very reliable and is designed to always reconnect to the mobile or fixed network no matter what happens. It has built-in hardware and software watchdog that can cut power to both the radio module and the SIM card in case of problems to ensure a trouble-free reconnection to the network during operational disturbances with the operator.
Handles harsh environments
It can handle extra high/low temperatures (-30 to +60 degrees). In addition, it has a stable metal casing with proper cooling to withstand somewhat harsher environments.
VPN
The IDG780 has built-in VPN for IPSec, L2TP, PPTP (client-/server-mode), GRE, L2TP over IPSec, and OpenVPN.
Dual SIM
The IDG780 has dual SIM card slots to connect to 2 different operators. The router can automatically switch to the other SIM card in case of operational problems with the primary operator.
PoE-powered
The IDG780 can be powered by PoE, which means you can run power to the router via an Ethernet cable if you want to place the router near the antenna and avoid long antenna cables.
Fail-over
The IDG780 has built-in fail-over between the WAN port and the 5G modem. Either you have your DSL/fiber as the primary internet link and switch to 5G in case of operational disturbances on DSL/fiber, or vice versa, you have your 5G as the primary link but can switch to, for example, a slow ADSL when 5G is not working. In addition, it has the ability to use both 5G and the WAN port simultaneously (Load Balancing) for times when you want to maximize traffic capacity. However, the most common use case for this model is to place it as a transparent internet connection to a larger firewall.
SMS control
The IDG780 has built-in support for SMS. The SMS function can be used, for example, to control the router (status, connect, disconnect, reconnect, and reboot) or for alarming.
Quality of Service
Built-in ability to create your own QoS rules.
WiFi
A simple 2.4 GHz 802.11n WiFi for easier connection or remote management. NOTE, the WiFi in the IDG780 does not achieve the same performance as the 5G module.
