Can the p70 / p70R / p70s / p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads be used with older autopilots?

Raymarine's p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads are compatible with autopilot course computers introduced as far back as Type 150/S1, Type 150G/S1G, Type 400/S2, Type 400G/S2G, S3, and S3G. However, a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter Kit should not be used to connect p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads to these older autopilot course computers with SeaTalk1 communication interface.

Instead, p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads should be connected to the SeaTalk1 bus that the autopilot course computer is connected to, using an assembly consisting of a D244 SeaTalk Junction Block and a SeaTalk1-to-SeaTalkng Adapter Cable. To do this, simply disconnect the SeaTalk cable from the ST600x/ST700x/ST800x Autopilot Control Head's SeaTalk port and connect the disconnected SeaTalk cable to the aforementioned D244 SeaTalk Junction Block. Finally, connect the Adapter Cable to one of the p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Head's SeaTalkng spur sockets.

Raymarine's p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads are also compatible with older autopilot course computers with SeaTalkng communication interface (e.g., SPX5, SPX10, SPX30, SPX-SOL, SPX-CAN). While SPX5/SPX10/SX30/SPX-SOL/SPX-CAN Autopilot Course Computers have both SeaTalk1 and SeaTalkng communication interfaces, p70/p70R/p70S/p70RS and SPX5/SPX10/SX30/SPX-SOL/SPX-CAN Autopilot Course Computer should be connected as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng backbone. When used with p70/p70R/p70s/p70Rs Autopilot Control Heads, SPX5/SPX10/SX30/SPX-SOL/SPX-CAN Autopilot Course Computers should be updated with the latest available Raymarine product software update for these autopilot course computers.
