YACHT DEVICES YDNU-02, is a NMEA 2000 to USB gateway that allows you to get NMEA 2000 data to a computer. This way you can get course, position, speed, depth, wind direction, AIS and other data in navigation programs like OpenCPN, Expedition, Coastal Explorer, PolarView, OpenSkipper and so on. The YDNU-02 has bi-directional communication so it is possible to send data from the computer to the NMEA 2000 network, e.g. to control an autopilot. It also supports conversion of NMEA 0183 data connected directly to the computer. YDNU connects to a computer with a USB cable. A virtual com-port is created in the computer (no special driver needs to be installed in Mac OS X, Win10 and Linux). The device does not require any special software. You can select the mode by sending a text command. To update the firmware, just copy a file.

YDNU-02 can be configured according to the following modes:

  • 0183 mode. The device converts data from NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 and vice versa. The conversion covers all important navigation data including AIS and autopilot data
  • N2K mode. The device sends NMEA 2000 messages to and from the computer for use in common programs such as Coastal Explorer, Expedition, Polar View, OpenSkipper and many more
  • RAW mode. The device sends NMEA 2000 messages to and from the computer in a format similar to how a plotter receives data. It makes it possible to diagnose and create your own applications. It is possible to record a .CAN file and monitor in real time with the CAN Log Viewer. The recording can be converted to a .DAT format and it is possible to output GPX tracks, spreadsheets and the like
  • AUTO mode. In this mode, the device automatically analyzes which of the three modes above should be used
